President Obama met with the leaders of the Group of 8 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United Kingdom) on 8 July. Group of 8 members are discussing ways to ensure sustainable growth and to tackle the interlinked challenges of the economic crisis, trade, climate change and development.

President Obama will be off to London Tuesday morning (D.C. time) for the G-20 meeting. The Group of Twenty (G-20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors was established in 1999 to bring together systemically important industrialized and developing economies to discuss key issues in the global economy.
